  Notes	[1551424.ged] 1/21/99 PETER BRANCH (1659-1713) HANNAH LINCOLN (1662-1731) 1659 Born on Branch Island 8 miles north of Plymouth,Ma May 28th. 1662 HANNAH was born in Taunton,Ma. She was niece of Samuel Lincoln from whom Abraham Lincoln traced his descent. 1680 He went to Taunton,Ma and his occupation was a farmer 1681 Married HANNAH LINCOLN at Taunton 1682 They went to Norwich,Ct. (Preston) where they bought Branch Hill property of Oraneco,Sachem of the Mohegan Indians. The original deed is in possession of Mrs. R. Branch Follett Family of Hartford. 1686 PETER was listed as one of 19 persons to petition the legislature for incorporation of New Preston in October. This petition was based on the fact that the church of Norwich was to far away. (14 miles) 1687 The petition of New Preston was granted. The same year a quit claim deed was recorded for a tract 5 miles in length between Stonington and Norwich having been obtained from Mohegan Sachem on March 17th with PETER has one of the new owners. 1690 He had his cattle mark registered at Norwich,Ct. 1699 HANNAH was admitted to the Preston Church. 1713 Died at Preston,Ct on December 27th leaving a substantial Estate of over 200 pounds. 1731 HANNAH died in Preston,Ct.
