In 1811, Elisha Eaton and his brother-in-law Benjamin STEADMAN, who married Elisha's cousin Mary Ann Eaton, had pews in St. John's Church, Cornwallis. On the plan of the interior of the church, Mr. Eaton's two pews come directly back of the Governor's pew, Mr. STEADMAN's pew is on the right of the middle aisle, fourth from the front. (according to Eaton)
