Donald McNeill
McNEILL _ Donald Leishman 1922 - 2005 On Wednesday, September 14, 2005 Don McNeill passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years. Don was married to and adored his wife Joyce for fifty-six years prior to her passing in March of this year. He is survived by and forever remembered with respect and love by his four children, Donna, Jack, Ken and Jan; and his nine grandchildren, Lindsay, Shannon, Justin, Brad, Jodi, Brendan, Logan, Alexandria and Adam; and his twin sister Marion, with whom he shared his whole life. Don was a third-generation Calgarian who, after graduation from Western Canada High School in 1940, joined the RCAF to fight for our freedom in World War II. Don became a decorated war veteran as a Captain and Pilot of a Lancaster Bomber doing bombing runs over Germany and eventually freeing POWs at the end of the war. After the war, Don attended the University of Alberta and achieved a Mining Engineering Degree in 1949. After graduating Don joined National Supply and managed the Edmonton, and later Calgary, offices of the Company until 1970. In 1970, Don joined Investors as an Investment Advisor, where he remained until retirement at seventy-six years old in 1998. At Investors, Don led sales for years and won countless awards helping people achieve their financial goals. Don was a charter and very active member of the South Calgary Rotary Club and was President of the club in 1964. He also spent many years volunteering as a Director of the Calgary Boys and Girls Club. Don was loved by all who knew him. He gave of himself openly and unconditionally to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing this incredible man. We will all miss Don, and we can honor him by loving our families and living our lives to the fullest the way he did. A Memorial Service will be held in Don's honor at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at Saint Andrew's United Church, 924 Heritage Drive S.W. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary T2G 3Y6.
